Position Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for providing high level design solutions taking into account the appropriate redundancy, scalability, security, Q of S, latency, and manageability requirements needed for the continuing success of X5’s core IP & VoIP network infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer is expected to have the expertise to enhance the existing network design, implement additional network elements, provide ongoing support and maintenance, including all analysis tools and monitoring. Complete coverage of day to day monitoring, care and feeding, along with detailed trouble shooting and analysis.

Our current configuration and environments contain Cisco routers and firewalls, ACME SBC’s, and Class 4/5 Meta Soft Switches, along with all the ancillary supporting systems and servers.
Minimum Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge in IP & VoIP networking, data communications and systems engineering with an understanding and experience dealing with multi-service IP networks, data network strategies, multi vendor equipment and network protocols.
·Knowledge of routing, including but not limited to: M/BGP, MPLS (traffic engineering, L2/L3 VPN), ISIS, OSPF/OSPFv3, RSVP, LDP, EIGRP, IGRP, RIP-1/2, MSDP, PIM-DM/SM, in routing and WCCP
·Knowledge of security including but not limited to firewalls, ACL, and policy management.
· Extensive level knowledge of switching, including but not limited to: CGMP, IGMP, 802.XX, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Vlan/Trunking (802.1q And ISL), Ether channel, Wireless, Spanning Tree (STP), HSRP, VRRP
· Knowledge and experience in wide range of technologies including router, Session Border Controller, multiplexer and switch design and architecture as well as transport, routing and signaling protocols including but not limited to DWDM, SONET w/APS (OC3-OC192), ATM, Cable (DOCSIS), Frame Relay and Terrestrial Leased line (fracT1 – OC48)
·Extensive knowledge and experience understanding industry best practices on network architecture and engineering and experience in robust network, product/service and system design, security, and implementation strategies.
· Wide area of expertise in ancillary technologies used for visibility, analysis and support of the network backbones such as management and metric gathering tools (SNMP, Net flow), PCAP’s packet capturing tools, taps and spanning, and automated alerts and alarm tools.
· Experience in the non-technical aspects of senior level network engineering such as interfacing with various levels of employees, from mentoring those in need to providing managerial level reports for higher level decision making. Experience with vendor interface and management, equipment selection and ROI analysis and budgeting.
Job Qualifications:
·Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent experience; Required
·Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience; Required
·Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) voice or equivalent experience preferable but not required.
·Secession Boarder Controller- (SBC) experience highly preferable but not required.
·Carrier experience highly preferable but not required.
